Love is the Drug

Right. To counter the mournful recollections of the previous thread (already a tonne of toons for me to go and pilfer from Kazaa - thanks!), let's go with the "Love" song that affects you the most. Any Celine Dion or Mariah Carey gets automatically deleted. Wakatta?

Mine would be "Gorecki" by Lamb;

"If I should die this very moment
I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you
Still my heart this moment
Or it might burst

Could we stay right here
Until the end of time
'Til the earth stops turning
Wanna love you 'til the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for"

Just beautiful...

...and two songs hellishly high on soppy-factor: "Never Saw Blue Like That" by Shawn Colvin and "I Love You" by Sarah McLachlan. Can't sing any of them without making myself cry (or others by having to listen to me sing).

Over to you guys.

Somebody, Depeche Mode.
Come What May, Moulin Rouge.

The campiest of all loves songs: Tainted Love, Soft Cell.

And my favorite Japanese love song: Yuki no Hana, Nakashima Mika.

I think my favourite love song of all time would be:
"All I Need" by Air from their album Moon Safari.

But a close second is
"Another Girl, Another Planet" by The Only Ones.

One of the methods of teaching English the Japanese/English teachers used was to make the kids sing songs. Endless Beatles songs aside (the horror), one song we did do was "Your Song" by Elton John. It is such a beautiful song, even though some of the lyrics are a tad corny. Sigh, I think the gooiest act of love is to write somebody a decent love song.

I know this is cheesy, but you know the part of "Is This Love" by Bob Marley that goes, "I wanna love you every day and every night / We'll be together, with a roof right over our heads / We'll share the shelter of my single bed"? I love those lines in that song...

Best Work by The Whitlams, especially the lines "I never dreamed about you, when we were never far apart. But now that I'm without you, you're here all through the night". Sigh. And "no lovers, only love" from the same song. I think I played this about 700 times in a row after one break-up... yep, I think we've all been there!
