Item 5 on the rumour mill...
...is that Sarah Michelle Gellar discovered she was allergic to Japanese water whilst filming the remake to "The Grudge".
Must have been all those little dead-blue Toshios plugging up the Tokyo sewer system screaming "Nooo - not another classless Americanised remake!!"
The celluloid dead have their own way of making you pay...

you may kill me, but i actually preferred the remake of the ring to the original. maybe it is my naomi watts fetish. the only problem with the remake is the tendency to explain too much, a problem i think was evident in the original's sequels...
Fair call - I'll pay that one, young Catboy. But generally speaking, I'll go out on a limb here and say the Japanese do horror far better than any other culture I reckon. Just a personal opinion, but. I'm just a bit funny with people jumping on the remake bandwagon so soon after an original film is released. It just seems wrong somehow, a bit like the "Let's show those Japanese how a *real* film industry can handle their original idea" attitude. Shudder.
I fully agree and shudder in sympathy. Just look at all those wonderful cute french films and their MacDonald-ised remakes. Good example: L'Indian dans la Ville (Although this guy bashes it to no end: http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/movies/l/little_indian.html - I found the film entertaining)
